For more than thirty years years, he\u2019s been a well-known name in the world of industrial design. And even if the name <\/span><\/span>Robert Bronwasser<\/span><\/span><\/a> And even if the name Robert Bronwasser doesn\u2019t immediately ring a bell, you\u2019ve almost certainly come across his work: from Simon Levelt coffee cups and Heineken taps to QWIC e-bikes and Occony desks – he\u2019s done it all. So, how did he find his way to NO-EM? And what vision brought our <\/span>Infinity<\/span> chair to life? He tells us all about it in this interview. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Designs for everyday use <\/span><\/span><\/h4>

It was clear early on that Robert would end up in a creative profession. \u201cI grew up in an incredibly creative family <\/span> and creativity was always encouraged,\u201d he explains. \u201cThe moment I discovered industrial design, I was instantly hooked. The idea that people use the products you design every day \u2014 I think that\u2019s amazing.\u201d <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Less<\/span> is more<\/span><\/h4>

Robert\u2019s foundation is simple: create products with a friendly, accessible look and a sense of effortless simplicity. \u201cMy designs are very approachable \u2014 you understand them right away,\u201d he says. \u201cThere\u2019s no noise, no unnecessary complexity, no extras that don\u2019t belong. It\u2019s clean, but never cold.\u201d How he achieves that? By daring to make difficult choices. \u201cLess is more. I can only <\/span>design something that looks simple if the concept itself is simple and clear.\u201d<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Look, <\/span>think<\/span>, <\/span>create<\/span><\/h4>

Our Infinity chair had to be just as straightforward on paper. \u201cI always work in three phases: <\/span>look, think & create<\/span><\/i>. First, I study the brand and the market. What already exists, and where are the opportunities? Where will the product live, and who will use it? Then I sit down with NO-EM to shape the concept. What does the chair need to do? What\u2019s the story behind it? <\/span> <\/span><\/p>

<\/p>


In this case, sustainability was high on the list. But if the chair is meant to last thirty years, it also needs a timeless design. And of course \u2014 it still has to sit comfortably. Only when I understand all of that do I start sketching.\u201d <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

That process led to something special. \u201cThe backrest of this chair is the real gamechanger. While most office chairs have a high back, this one is low and extends further downward to \u2018hide\u2019 the mechanism. Those were bold, defining choices that give Infinity its own unique look and feel. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>

<\/p>


And then there\u2019s the modularity \u2014 a key part of the chair. It adapts to your needs: task chair, meeting chair \u2014 anything goes. Who knows, maybe even more components will be added in the future, offering even more ways to customise the concept.\u201d <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Partnership with NO-EM<\/span><\/span><\/h4>

So, what makes this collaboration different? \u201cWith NO-EM, circularity goes beyond the product itself. That also means I collaborate with them in a different way. <\/span><\/p>

<\/span> <\/span><\/p>

Designing this chair was a risk, for example, because I only receive royalties once the chair is actually sold. But with the concept and all the enthusiasm I\u2019ve seen so far, I\u2019m not worried. It also sets an important example for the rest of the industry: this is where we all need to go \u2014 revenue based on use, not just on sales.\u201d <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
